While attending the University of Houston - Clear Lake, I served as both assistant editor and assistant designer of the student-run newspaper, the UHCLIDIAN.
There, my duties included composing articles for each bi-weekly issue, assigning stories to student reporters, and editing student articles for both content and grammar.
During production nights, I would also help digitally restore images, teach computer graphics techniques to staff designers, and help with each issue's final layout.
Over the course of the semester, I wrote an article for each of the seven bi-weekly issues of the paper. Some of the topics I covered included an interview with a HBO "Def Poetry" artist, a scholarly analysis of the Muhammad cartoon controversy, and in-depth report on a police investigation of UHCL's dean of students.
Examples of each of these articles and layout designs are available for download in PDF format at right.
